Taking a bath at the Széchenyi bath in Budapest is one of the best things to do in Budapest! Do however prepare yourself for some obstacles before you hit the water, pictured to the left is the first signs that “greet” you when you gain entry to the bath. With Hungarian being a non indoeuropean language there are not many words (if any) that are similar to the major European languages, the signs are therefore quit impossible to interpret. They did however include a nice picture of a toilett and a shower, unfortunately neither showers or toiletts where in the direction the arrows pointed. But don’t let this put you off, the bath is well worth getting confused both once and twice before you finally find your way into the incredibly comfortable water!
While we can’t play the full game we can put our imagination to work creating new species! From Gamespot I found a download link for the creature creator!
Am I the only one who get’s a little funny feeling inside whenever I find some really smart software or combinations thereof.
I just found JeOS which is a boiled down server version of Ubuntu streamlined to use in virtual environments! I tried it out and it was amazing, installed with a full LAMP-server (Linux, Apache2, MySQL 5.0 and PHP5) the end disc usage in my VMWare configuration was 720 Mb and it could run on as low as 128 Mb of RAM! That’s some really neat software!!
I wanted to run Remote Desktop but a firewall was blocking access. However.. the SSH port was open.
[que mission impossible theme]
I’m on a Windows-machine and while I can log onto OpenSSH I can’t forward X here.
I install VMWare and Ubuntu in a virutal machine.
I start Ubuntu, and run ssh -X my.machine.outside.the.firewall.com
On the command prompt I’m now at an external Linux machine, from here I run: rdesktop the.remote.desktop.machine.com
Voilá!
